NETWORKING INTRODUCTION

                      The need for networking is to interconnect various computing devices together to get benefits through them like file sharing,data integrity and data transfer and to establish communication between users of that particular network.The main advantage of networking is to reduce the amount of money,time and etc.,. Through the help of internet networking also can be performed and also it is a type of network.

Bandwidth:

                    Amount of space available to transmit the data between the users or computers or networks.

Types Of Networks:

                     1.LAN(Local Area Network)-It is a very small network which is connected with a small amount of devices(coputers,swith,router,etc.,) that are organised within a floor,home or any small scale area.They are connected through a Ethernet cable.

 

                     2.MAN(Metropolitian Area Network)-It covers a geographical area which consisting of a large number of distinct LAN in it.It can also be referred as a collection of LAN.

 

                 3.WAN(Wide Area Network)-WAN is used to interconnect two different cities.The medium of communication in this is will be in wireless.

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION

                    1.Wired Communication-In this type of communication data are transmitted through the wired connection.

                    2.Wireless Communication-The data between various systems or devices are transmitted through air medium.

TYPES OF DEVICES:

                                There are large number of devices are used to interconnect the computers and the other networking devices together.some of them and their functionality are represented here...............

 

a)HUB:

                               It has 8-16 ports.It is a half duplex device.An unintelligent network devicethat sends signal to all the stations connected to it.

 

b)SWITCH:

                              It has 19-64 ports.It is a full duplex.It is a layer two device.There are two types of switches are present represented as

                              1.Managable Switch------We have to manage how the data are to be transmitted.

                              2.Unmanagable Switch--It automatically manages its own communication

c)ROUTERS:

                              They have capability of performing all the actions performed by above mentioned  devices.
